September 26-October 14
The first graders have adjusted to their new routines. Our days are busy with math lessons and games, phonics and phonemic awareness activities, guided reading, writing workshop, and social studies and science lessons. Check out our bulletin board to read some of the fantastic stories we have already published! We are enjoying our author/illustrator study of Kevin Henkes. We especially like his mouse characters. We are fortunate to have a new student in our class. Betsy speaks English and Spanish; we are learning a lot from her! Thank you for the great job you are doing with supervising homework and signing the bookmark for reading. Keep up the super work!

September 6-16
Welcome to First Grade! We are off to a great start, despite the rainy, soggy weather. The students are eager to get into the routines of first grade and happy to see their friends. This first week of school is all about getting familiar with the classroom, each other, and routines. Next week we will start getting into our Everyday Math books and the Scott Foresman reading series. We will also be learning about Constitution Day and reflecting upon what it means to be an American. I look forward to seeing everyone at Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 13. If you cannot attend, please send me an email so I have your email address. Thank you!
